Who Must Take Assessment Tests?
The following students must take basic assessments in reading, writing and mathematics before they register: - Those attending college for the first time
- Those currently in high school
- Those enrolling for the first time in a reading, writing, mathematics or general education course
The following students do not have to take assessments: - Those who have already earned a degree or certificate with a mathematics and communications general education component
- Those who can document competency in reading, writing or mathematics through previous assessments or college-level courses
- Those who are enrolling only in non-credit, contract or special interest courses.
Previous scores or transcripts must be presented to a counselor or advisor before registration.
