CLASS SUMMARY
The Fiscal Support Assistant is the first level of a three level Fiscal-Fiscal Support series. Incumbents perform entry level duties in processing monetary transactions, balancing and reconciling cash drawers and reports, preparing deposits, and disbursing petty cash for an assigned campus. The Fiscal Support Assistant is distinguished from the Fiscal Support Technician who has the responsibility of performing technical level work.
TYPICAL CLASS ESSENTIAL DUTIES
These duties are a representative sample; position assignments may vary.
- Processing monetary transactions, to include tuition bills, student records, phone bills, applications, certificates, and other fiscal services, processing and calculating promissory notes, employee/staff fee waivers and other financial activities recorded in both manual and computerized systems. Daily 50%
- Disbursing travel and petty cash funds. Daily 10%
- Balancing cash drawers and petty cash funds; preparing cash reconciliation reports, bank deposits and other financial reports. Daily 10%
- Performing general office tasks, such as answering phones and taking messages, and maintaining an accurate paperwork and filing system. Daily 10%
- Providing customer service by responding to student, faculty and staff questions and concerns, such as tuition fees or graduation requirements. Daily 10%
- Logging and maintaining copies of employee time cards; mileage and other logs and distributing employee paychecks. Weekly 10%
- Performing other duties of a similar nature or level. As Required

Training and Experience (positions in this class typically require):
High School Diploma or General Equivalency Degree, and one year of bank teller, cashiering or basic bookkeeping experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job, such as those listed above.

Physical Requirements:
Positions in this class typically require: fingering, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
