PURPOSE
This standard practice guide sets forth the parties who are authorized to sign grants and contracts on behalf of the College in the absence of the Chancellor. This delegation will apply to action items that are presented to the College Board of Governors for review and/or approval.
DEFINITIONS
Signature Authority
Signature authority is vested in senior members of College administration by delegation from the Chancellor. This is a specific delegation and is determined by the Chancellor based on College need and institutional integrity.
PROCESS AND PROCEDURE
Signature Authority
The Chancellor may designate the Executive Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration as the person authorized to sign College grants and contracts, and/or recommend them for signature by the Chancellor. Documents that require signatures should be provided to the Executive Vice Chancellor with adequate time for review and approval.
Board action items must be reviewed and recommended by either the Chancellor or the Executive Vice Chancellor prior to inclusion in the Board packet.
OUTCOME
Specific delegation of signature authority for grants and contracts will provide continuity and internal control for significant legal documents affecting College business.
