Purpose

The purpose of this Regulation is to set out the College departments responsible for the College’s legal obligations under Policy 1501.

I.        EEO/AA/ADA Office and Officer

The EEO/AA/ADA Office works with the College community to ensure that the College meets its legal obligations in the following areas:

  • Equal opportunity and affirmative action
  • Nondiscrimination and harassment
  • Access for individuals with disabilities
  • Accommodations for employees required by the Americans with Disabilities Act (“ADA”)

The EEO/AA/ADA Officer is responsible for the following:

  • Investigation and resolution of discrimination concerns, allegations and complaints, both formal and informal
  • Coordination of the College’s compliance with the employment provisions of the ADA and accessibility provisions of the ADA and related laws
  • Evaluation of all employee accommodation requests and coordination of the implementation of any required ADA accommodation
  • Serving as the College’s Compliance Officer for the ADA and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act (“Section 504”)
  • Preparation and dissemination of the College’s Affirmative Action Plan
  • Consultation, guidance and training in the above areas

II.       The Title IX Coordinator and Vice Presidents of Student Development

The Title IX Coordinator works to ensure that the College meets its legal obligations under Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 and related regulations (“Title IX”). Title IX prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex, including sexual harassment. The College’s Title IX Coordinator is the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Student Services or equivalent position.

The Title IX Coordinator maintains overall compliance responsibility for Title IX- related matters and Student Code of Conduct matters related to discrimination and harassment.

At each College campus, the Vice Presidents of Student Development are responsible for investigating any applicable complaint that the Student Code of Conduct has been violated by a student, including any allegation that a student has violated the provisions of the Code of Conduct concerning discrimination and harassment.

III.      Coordinator of Disabled Student Resources

The Coordinator of Disabled Student Resources works to ensure that the College meets its legal obligations under the ADA and Section 504 to provide students with accommodations and academic adjustments. The Coordinator is the Special Assistant to the Provost/Executive Vice Chancellor or comparable position.

The Coordinator maintains overall compliance responsibility for the ADA and Section 504-related matters related to students. The Coordinator is also responsible for the management and supervision of Disabled Student Resources. The Coordinator monitors and evaluates the delivery, consistency and quality of services for students as well as the education and training of faculty and staff concerning student ADA and Section 504 issues.

IV.       Vice Chancellor for Facilities

The Vice Chancellor for Facilities or equivalent position, in conjunction with the EEO/AA/ADA Officer is responsible for evaluation and coordination of ADA accommodations requiring structural and/or equipment modifications or additions for both employees and students. The Vice Chancellor of Facilities is responsible for ensuring that all College facilities are in compliance with structural and access requirements under the ADA through an on-going evaluation of College facilities. This responsibility extends to sites leased by the College.
