Chancellor's Message *

The 2011 – 2013 College Plan addresses difficult and fundamental issues. The elements of this plan – its five initiatives, 30 strategies and 182 specific actions – provide a detailed map of the College’s focus for the next two years.

The five initiatives are:

  1. Strengthen developmental education
  2. Improve the overall success of student learning
  3. Enhance course delivery
  4. Expand educational and workforce opportunities
  5. Enhance operations

The Plan enhances our mission, “to develop our community through learning,” as well as our fiduciary responsibilities as stewards of a public resource. Its elements also follow, in part, the findings of the September 2010 reaccreditation visit.

Pima Community College is a resource that supports the economic growth of our region through the personal and professional aspirations of the people we serve. Through our plans, the College provides a public sense of its priorities and direction. To allow the public to better gauge our progress, the College also is providing, via its website, summary results from the 2008 – 2011 College Plan, as we did for our 2004 – 2006 and 2006 – 2008 planning cycles.

Pima County is at the heart of a dynamic region, rich in culture and history. Serving the educational needs of this region presents great challenges and opportunities. It is my pleasure to provide this summary to allow you to see how the institution plans to address its future.

Sincerely,

Roy Flores
